After spending months and months building Plusforus.com into the “Google” of all things plus size, I have come to one very important conclusion…Full Figured Bloggers are a major reason the industry has prospered. Let’s elaborate so more, one fashion review on a blog can influence people to buy or pass on a product. Bloggers can make or break companies, fashion trends, events, models, movies, television shows, and more. Look at shows like “More to Love” which was basically a degrading plus size version of the bachelor. It was cancelled not long after its debut, BUT “Drop Dead Diva” is coming back for a spectacular 3rd season cause of an overwhelmingly positive response…that is the how powerful words can be. Each blog touches on many different subjects but the over-all message is the same…Positive, Inspiring, and Confident!
I personally went through each and every blog before adding them to PFU. There is so much talent and meaning behind the words that it becomes clear…the plus size world needed bloggers 20 years ago. When you look at how much the industry has changed in just the last 3 years, its incredible! I’m not saying discrimination doesn’t still exist but you have to admit when stores that were dead-set against having a plus size line in their portfolio; caved, realized the demand, and started producing full figured lines …well that’s a win in my book for this reason, they finally admitted publically that they needed the plus size community or they would be out of business. That change came from blogs and user comments…companies finaly heard you and our competing for not only your business but your approval.
One key thing that curvy blogs have focused on is the ever changing fashion trends. Full figured women have basically demanded that companies step up their game to make fashionable clothes, not just the drab that you’ve seen in the past. Pressuring them to produce high end merchandise that you would feel sexy wearing out to the club, red carpet events and even swimsuits that highlight your curves. Now, most companies don’t just rely on designers to tell them what’s hot…they send samples to bloggers for them to review. A good review can generate major sales and put a company on the map. One of the greatest benefits of a blogger reviewing fashion and accessories is that they are not on the payroll of the company, meaning products better be extraordinary or risk a negative review, which can make or break a business…That’s Powerful!
Plus Size Blogs will continue to set the bar for fashion, make the industry better, and inspire change. Check out all the blogs I am referring to in PFU’s Blog Section. I promise you will not be disappointed.
