My name is Lisa Marie Rodriguez and I grew up in Monrovia, Ca. I am half German, half Mexican, 5’10″ and a size 12/14. Growing up I was always one of the tallest girls in my class. I eventually learned to embrace my height and my curves and I love being able to represent women with curves as I believe all women are beautiful.
I started my modeling career about 3 years ago and have participated in dozens of fashion shows including FFFW Los Angeles as well as the Curvy Revolution at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas where I modeled for Sassi Rebel Clothing, Igigi, and Jill Alexander to name a few. I have been featured on World of Curves Model of the Month and have appeared in a couple issues of Beauty Come Forth Magazine, Modeling for Myla Collection and Deanzign. I have also done “fit modeling” and print for designers and companies such as Big Gals Lingerie, Sydney Collection, Popsi Lingerie, Designer Curves, and Size Appeal. I was recently featured on Good Day LA modeling for Torrid.
Plus Modeling has not only allowed me to meet such wonderful and talented people including photographers, stylists, mua’s, models, runway instructors, producers, etc. Modeling has allowed me to be give back to the community and participate in several charity events such as Fashion Aide LA. I am big believer in paying it forward and helping others. I have volunteered at local community centers, homeless shelters, and have participated in help raising money for the Susan G. Coleman Foundation.
Being a part of the “Curvy Revolution” has allowed me to help show the world that you don’t have to be a size 2 to be considered beautiful, for beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. I believe true beauty comes from within. True beauty, is about knowing your worth and letting that radiate and shine through. It’s about believing in yourself and having the confidence to know that anything is possible.
As my favorite authors/poets Maya Angelou wrote: “It’s the fire in my eyes, and the flash of my teeth, the swing in my waist, and the joy in my feet. I’m a woman phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that’s me.”
