This month we feature a model just starting out but making a big impact in the industry…Lauren Veluvolu! She is 19 and as ambitious as anyone we have ever seen with a look to die for. My name is Lauren Veluvolu and I am 19 years old. I was born in Raliegh, North Carolina, but when I was about four, my family and I moved to a city close to Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, I never looked nor felt like that “model type” of girl. I was always the self-conscious one with all of the insecurities, that NEVER got any of the boys. It was about my sophomore year in high school, when my body started to really develop. The way God transformed me, allowed me to become more confident and a stronger minded individual. I grew into my curves, and into my more full-figured frame. I truly believe that one of the most gorgeous assets a woman can possess are her curves and the confidence she has while carrying them! It’s absolutely amazing. I started modeling only ten months ago, when I had my very first photo-shoot. It was an absolute success, and when the photos came out, nobody ever would have known that was my first time. I am truly a natural, and blessed to have this overall talent. I love being a plus-size model, and helping define beauty where it truly matters. I feel that my exotic and ethnic look is another thing that helps set me apart. I’m 5’9.5″ at a size 16, almost 5’10″. I’m still very young, therefore my body still has some time left to grow. My background is 50% African American, and the rest of me consists of Polish, Swedish, English, and Native American.
I have had numerous photo-shoots, being given the opportunity to meet some really amazing photographers, MUA’s, hairstylists, and other extremely talented women within the modeling world. I was a previously signed plus-size model, but I dropped them for various reasons. Right now within my career, I’m a freelance model, and my heart is set on getting signed with an agency I absolutely adore, also it being one of the largest and most well-known agencies of the world.
My overall goal within this fast pace world of glamour, glitz, beauty and fashion is too travel everywhere I can, exploring the different types of fashion and views on beauty. I would absolutely love to work with the world’s top fashion photographers, be a part of history made runway shows, and model for the world’s finest designers, and full-figured clothing companies such as Torrid, Lane Bryant, & Ashley Stewart. I want to become an iconic figure for younger girls with low self-confidence and self-body image, and help them learn to accept and love the bodies they have. I know how it feels to want a role model that can completely relate to your life, because I used to be that girl. Nothing shines more through than a woman, her curves, and her confidence!
