Breaking into +SZ Modeling

Breaking into +SZ Modeling

Breaking Into The Plus-Size Modeling Industry

I’m on a quest to break into the plus-size modeling industry and it’s proving to be a lot more difficult that I could have ever imagined!  Beyond seeking the right photographer, hair stylist, makeup artist, stylist, etc…  There are a whole lot of other road blocks that I never expected!  Step number one is to get a basic head shot and body shot to submit to various agencies seeking representation, so I decided to schedule a photo shoot with a local photographer here in AZ.

Most agencies that I’ve researched only ask for “basic” shots that represent a natural look to display what you truly look like, but I decided to go all out and do it the right way.  The shoot ended up turning into a big mess!  I ended up getting way too heavy makeup, my hair wasn’t what I asked for (natural waves) and the photographer didn’t do stellar work for the top dollar that he charged!  All in all, it was an experience the results weren’t terribly horrible.  I’ll definitely shoot again with a different photographer or perhaps even have a friend take a few shots until I am represented and working professionally.  Live and learn!

At the end of the day, I made the most of my over-priced shoot and remain positive!  Even though I didn’t have the best experience I somehow pulled it together and had fun with it!   It was also eye-opening to see where I’m at physically in photograph and I aim to pump it up in the gym to tighten up my curves for the next time around! In the meantime, I will continue to work towards my dream of modeling in the plus-size industry and will take it day by day.

No. I use to love how she lokoed as a plus size model, but she looks kind of sickly in these photos. It’s crazy to me that any one would think she is plus size and I don’t think calling a size 10 a plus size helps us ladies that actually are. If they are fitting and modeling plus size clothes on a size 10, they are for sure not going to fit my size 20 body anything like that.
