Ana Garcia was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. Ever since she was a child, she loved everything that had to do with fashion and beauty. At a young age, she decided to study cosmetology; there she found a passion for makeup while also obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. She never imagined she could work in front of the camera, because she was never the thin type.
After seeing Toccara Jones on Americas Next Top Model, she decided to do some research on plus size modeling. In 2010, a Facebook friend sent her the info about a model search; that’s when Ana decided to enter the Torrid house of dreams in Puerto Rico becoming the first runner up. This is when she knew she had the potential to make it to the plus size industry. That same year she was chosen to model at the Curvy Revolution at Las Vegas in February 2011. She met a lot of important people from the plus size modeling industry and started to work on her modeling portfolio.
In February 2011, she was chosen as a finalist for the City Chic and Plus Model Magazine model search. When she came back to Puerto Rico, Buena Vida magazine call her to do a shoot for the 2011 June issue with a straight size model comparing how they both looked great in the same outfit.
In the summer of 2011 she was contacted by Nannette Rodriguez, owner of Blossom Boutique in Guaynabo, PR, to see if Ana could model her lingerie for the December issue of the Esposa Moderna Magazine.
Ana is still working on her portfolio and still learning about the plus size industry to make Puerto Rico see that models come in different shapes and sizes and can do a great job just like any straight size model. Recently she did a shoot for a fashion magazine in Puerto Rico and it will be out in January. Ana still considers herself an aspiring plus size model and hopes that one day she will find the representation that believes in her like she believes in herself.
